The India Initiative launched the India Ideas Conference in 2017 as a platform to convene scholars, practitioners, diplomats, and thought leaders for high-level dialogue on key issues related to India. On April 12, 2019, the initiative hosted the third annual India Ideas Conference.
India's strategic importance, democratic culture, economic potential, and increasingly affluent outward-looking population make it a key player on the global stage. Keynote speeches, panel discussions, and breakout sessions created a picture of the India of the future. Taking a forward-oriented approach to India in a moment of transition, topics included 2019 elections, infrastructure development and urban growth, innovation in business and social impact sectors, geopolitics in South Asia, and Indian identity. The 2019 conference was a solutions-oriented platform convening thought leaders from the United States and India to explore India's complexities, challenges, and opportunities in an era of social and economic change.
This conference was co-sponsored by the India Initiative, the Asia Group, McLarty Associates, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and Indiaspora. The Asia Group was a presenting sponsor. McLarty Associates, FICCI, and Indiaspora were panel sponsors.
