Mark Giordano

School of Foreign Service

Mark Giordano is a professor of geography in the Science, Technology and International Affairs Program in the School of Foreign Service and the Cinco Hermanos Chair in Environment and International Affairs. He joined Georgetown faculty in 2013. He previously served as a managing director of the Sri Lanka-based International Water Management Institute, winner of the 2012 Stockholm Water Prize, and a trade economist at U.S. Department of Agriculture.

International activities include:

  • Leading an active research and policy engagement program related to natural resource and technology issues in Asia and Africa
  • Participating frequently in international events on water and other topics
  • Authoring a large body of highly cited publications in major water science, geography, law, and international relations journals
