The U.S.-India partnership has continued to evolve in recent decades, and the relationship has strengthened across multiple fronts including defense, energy, and finance. Commercial ties have never been stronger, and the two countries have seen an increase in bilateral trade and investment. On February 8, the India Initiative and the South Asian Policy & Research Initiative (SAPRI) at the McCourt School of Public Policy hosted Puneet Roy Kundal, the minister of commerce at the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C. Mr. Kundal discussed the importance of U.S.-India trade relations in the current global market.
The minister's remarks were followed by a networking reception for Georgetown University faculty, students, and alumni as well as attendees from the broader D.C. policy community. The talk and reception kicked off the McCourt School’s 2018 conference, “Free Trade and American Prosperity.”
This event was co-sponsored by the South Asian Policy & Research Initiative (SAPRI) at the McCourt School of Public Policy and the Georgetown University India Initiative.
Puneet Roy Kundal is an Indian Foreign Service officer and is the current minister of commerce at the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C.
