Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code was a colonial-era law that criminalized homosexuality, which was overturned by the Supreme Court of India in September 2018. Dr. Menaka Guruswamy and Arundhati Katju, who litigated the case, visited Georgetown to speak about their work in constitutional law and the historic verdict against Section 377, with moderator Sunu Chandy, legal director of the National Women’s Law Center.
