The Fiction of Fact Finding: Manoj Mitta on 1984 and 2002

Showing the The Fiction of Fact Finding: Manoj Mitta on Modi and the Godhra Riots Video

This event was centered on Manoj Mitta’s book The Fiction of Fact Finding (2015). It addresses a range of unasked questions that helped then-Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi procure a clean chit in the carnage of Godhra. During the discussion, Mitta presented his book and views on the 2002 riots, as well as similar events that occurred in 1984. He emphasized that both national parties have a lot for which to answer.

This event was sponsored by the Georgetown India Dialogue, Department of Anthropology, and the Georgetown University Asian Studies Program.

Manoj Mitta is a senior journalist with the Times of India. He is also on the advisory board of Amnesty International India and has been tracking human rights and legal issues in the country for over 25 years.
