Professor Shareen Joshi held a film screening of Shatranj Ke Khiladi (the Chess Players), a historical drama by Satyajit Ray. After the film screening, Professor Joshi led a discussion about the film and the historical period it’s based on. Pizza was provided.

The film was created in 1977 and depicts the takeover of the kingdom of Awadh by the East India Company. In parallel to the developing political drama, the film depicts the personal lives of two noblemen in the kingdom.
