T.M. Krishna is a Carnatic music vocalist and public intellectual who blends traditional Carnatic music with his own innovative interpretation. He speaks and writes about issues affecting the human condition and has been published in several leading print and online publications. He also uses his music to fuel social activism. Krishna began his career at age 12 and has since performed widely at various festivals and venues across the world, including the National Centre for the Performing Arts (India), John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

The India Initiative hosted T.M. Krishna for a performance of Carnatic music. Tickets were required.

T.M. Krishna is a Carnatic music vocalist and public intellectual. In 2016, Krishna received the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award in recognition of "his forceful commitment as an artist and advocate of art’s power to heal India’s deep social divisions." Krishna's book A Southern Music- The Karnatik Story won the 2014 Tata Literature Award for non-fiction Best First Book.
