Ambassador Richard Verma was the United States ambassador to India from 2015 to 2017.  During his two-year tenure, U.S.-India relations experienced a significant resurgence, and Ambassador Verma spearheaded important gains in defense, trade, and clean energy. He managed an unprecedented nine meetings and three summits between President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leading to over 100 new initiatives and more than 40 government to government dialogues. He joined the Walsh School of Foreign Service as a Centennial Fellow in 2017.
